Hunter made a lousy design decision when they placed the hose for the water tank. The filler sets in a vertical position under the starboard cockpit seat. this is almost impossible to fill without spilling gallons of water into the bilge. I have rigged a hose extension that I can shove down the throat of the filler, but this is embarrassing and a hassle to use at the service dock. It would be a simple thing to extend the hose to allow for a filler plate on the deck except that I can't find a suitable replacement hose. Has anyone found a similar 1-1/2" dia. hose?

Does anything say you have to keep that as it is? Remove the filler, install a filler plate that you like, where you want it to be, and get new hose. There isn't anything wrong with your fashioning a plate out of plywood or Starboard, mounting it at a better attitude up under the cockpit-seat locker, and using a longer hose to get to it. Just keep big and heavy stuff in the locker from crashing into the hose and you're fine.

I would try a plumbing place for reinforced PVC (clear) hose. You could use the typical Shields 148 stuff (white) which is used for sanitation (and pools and spas) but, ironically, it might smell or taste funny for fresh water.

I completely re-did all my FW system so I can't speak to what yours looks like now. Mine was gone when I got the boat and I put two tanks under the berths (where they should be).

I would recommend getting a PVC/plastic filler fitting-- not metal. Sea Dog Line make a really nice black plastic one with a standard (blue) cap. Metal will taste funny-- it's the corrosion. Plastic won't taste at all once you're past the new-tank treatment of baking soda.
