I know this subject has probably been beat to death on this sit, so here goes again!:i just crawled under my H-22 to look at the keel before I haul her to the coast for a test run. The keel itself has some fiberglass wear and it sits on the trailer loosely so I'm sure it bounces some when it is being transported. I put a piece of foam under the keel where it sits on the trailer so that may correct that problem. While under the boat, I tried to see what condition the keel pin was in. I can barely see it. It doesn't appear to be rusted, but it doesn't look like stainless steel either. There may be some wear on the fiberglass arond the pin, but unless i drop the whole assembly, I guess I won't know. How big of a job is this? I see two brackets next to the keel that I assume are the access to the pin. What do you look for as far as wear/corrosion before you undertake this project, or should I forget it and go sailing?
