I wanted the ventilate the cuddy in my 216 so I drilled some holes in my cuddy "doors". Wanting to show some class, I made a outline pattern of the stylistic Hunter logo sailboat on a sheet of butcher paper using various sizes of kitchen bowls to make the pattern. I then marked where I was going to drill holes about every 3/4 or 1" or so. I made a jig for my drill so I could keep a constant angle then drilled my holes upward at about 30 degrees using the pattern. I obviously drilled the holes upward so water penetration would be kept to a minimum. Naturally, if you shoot a jet spray of water at the doors, water will penetrate. To avoid this problem, I don't do this! I made my jig by attaching a couple chunks wood to the bottom of my old Portalign "drill square holes jig" for a 1/4" drill. I am sure you could free hand the whole process fairly well. I holed both the bottom and top panel...and it looked really cool...until I put the metal strap on that locks the cuddy. The metal strap bisects my pattern. Drat! It still looks good but I would have been happier if I had drilled two patterns on the both the top and bottom panels, one on the port side and one on the starboard side.
