Guzzler bilge pump for holding tank?

Dear head Mistress,Yes it is a Guzzler bilge type pump for the overboard/pump out. Sounds kinda "light" to me. It's 10 years old and leaking around the diaphram. Should I fix it, or go to a Sealand 12V Sanipump, 1 1/2" (which is cheaper than the Whale manual one!?).With regards and awaiting your advice before proceeding,Bruce Z

Rebuild the Guzzler

After 10 years, I'm not surprised that it's leaking...all the rubber parts including the diaphragm have to be completely shot. So...it's a light duty pump. How heavy does it have to be just to dump a holding tank? Otoh, if you sail a long way offshore and feel you need a pump that can do double duty as a manual back-up bilge pump (which the SeaLand cannot do), bite the bullet and replace it with a Whale. Your boat is worth a lot more than it costs.

Guzzler rebuild

Thanks for the info Madame Headmistress.I was worried that it might not be odor proof enough. Rebuild it is.BZ
