We were running east under jib when the storm front approached from the east. We tried to reef the jib but the furling line jammed. Tore up the uv cover. Wrapped up the jib best I could and headed to PCola under main. Was 23 miles offshore when Friday night's thunderstorm hit. That's when the jib became a pennant. Offshore we were running in 4-6 ft seas and was 9-12 during the blow.
Fishing was good while we skirted the Chandeluers. We caught a couple of 20# Jacks, 6 Spanish mackerels, and one King. Our idea was to turn east and follow the ridge line where the water gets deep and catch some Mahi Mahi. But that was a bust.
