Gulstar 37 Aft Cockpit Pompano Beach
We have a stainless steel genoa track which is 1 1/4" x 12', it is deteriorating, crazing and cracking in places. I feel it is getting questionable. It sits on top of the teak toerail and has 3/8" bolts on 4" centers penetrating the toerail thru the deck. The problem is that the manufacturer glassed over the nuts on the end of the bolts, In addtion in the bulid out of the interior they have clearly limited the access to the areas. My question is does anyone know if they attached the toerail in its complete length with screws and epoxy before attaching the genoa track? Any information or suggestions will be appreciated Dan & Joyce

Gulfstar!

Hi, My name is Chris and last fall (2008) i became the proud father of a Gulfstar (hull number 102). During the winter i had been working on the boat and making improvements, including putting the holding tank inside the head instead of the vbird (which seems to be the best improvement so far), adding new Levmar windlass, putting new profile roller furler, replacing all six ports with stainless steel, doing a thorough review of the engine (adding and replacing parts- i.e. Perkins 50HP).
I will be more than happy to share my thoughts and experienc with anyone although i am only halfway through my renovations. Im planning on working on my boat a lot further and looking for advice on chosing the best/right propeller for the boat. Im thinking about the Kiwi propeller. I would also like to replace the three hatches on my boat (two are the same and one larger one) and i would also like to add a second forstay for a small jeep. I would appreciate some advice on my origional sails.
THis is my first bluewater boat and i dont have much experience, but i think with your advice i could make some better choises and avoid making big mistakes.
I keep my boat on the Chesapeake Bay (south river).
Im very happy and relieved to have found this group! If you have any advice or ideas (or questions!) please contact me.
