Does anyone know where I might find good information as to the currents for various seasons in the Gulf? We are planning a spring trip from SW FL to the Yucatan. Also, any thoughts on the best route as far as comfort would also be appretiated. Thanks

Fl to Yucatan

Mike We made this trip last summer ( at least included it). We went from Key West to Cuba; along the Cuban coast to the west end of Cuba; then around the end and down to the Cayman Islands; then to Belize and up to Isla Mujeres, then back to Key West. The beauty was that we had a following current almost the entire way. The big following current was west along the northern coast of Cuba and expecially from the Yucatan back to Key West. If I remember correctly it was as much as 2 and 3 knots pushing us home. Sounds like a great trip you are planning. I am jealous. Henry

Question for Henry Weber

Henry on re-reading your note, you mention a following WESTWARD current along the northern coast of Cuba? Just wanted to make sure I understood as that part is a surprise to me. I thought at best, you would tend to minimize the EASTWARD current by tucking into the Cuba coastline. Thanks, Mike Busher mjbusher@aol.com
