Something is missing
We are missing something here. We need an explanation of the chart. I see negative numbers, that, one could reason, would be a reverse flow, but why negative numbers when they have arrows? At times the Gulf LOOP can slow down, it is everchanging. The loop is created by warmer water flowing into the gulf, and at this time of year, the loop would be much smaller and also possibly bucking the tidal flow into the Gulf. Hell, im just guessing, but it sounds good, LOL. When i took those video clips out at that platform, i think i was about 60 to 65 miles south of the mouth of the Ms. river. Ill have to check my old time sheets to figure where i was. Anyway, the current was hauling ass for the full 2 weeks i was there, except for 1 day it slowed down to a crawl , then picked up speed again. Some of the ststic charts i found on the internet show it as coming way west and way north as a continuous clockwise loop with an Eddy off the west coast of Florida in an irregular shape. The guys on the platform said its usually always screaming on through, though.Wish i had the time to research it for you. You are a puter guy, just hack into the system and ask to speak to Bubba the Forecast guy.
