This may be a bit early, but I can't help but wonder....... Anyone know of plans to rebuild the marinas along the Mississippi Gulf Coast? I'm concerned that the marinas are going to be so far down the list that there is no telling when they may be rebuilt. I'm also very fearful that in light of the complete devistation, that we may loose them all together to the Casino's. (Bigger dollars) We had already lost most of our beach front property to the casinos before all this and now I'm concerned they will take the rest. My only complaint with the Casinos is please put them on the shore and leave the beach/ocean alone. Anyone heard anything on rebuilding? I'm particularly interesed in the Long Beach area Anyone know of a place to launch down there for some trailer sailing? Are they even allowing any boat activity yet? I understand there is a lot of debris in the water. thanks James Laurel,Ms

An excellent place to start from. Guess I should have said used to be. I am not sure what is there now I kept my boat there about three years ago I am sure they took a bad hit not sure what is available now. The city ran a very good operation it would be a real shame if they did not rebuild.

I saw pictures of Long Beach

Yeah Rick, it would be ashame. I saw pictures of Long Beach and there was nothing left but some pilons. No docks, No Structures, For that matter on Hwy 90 no structures left at all in that area...... A shame. James

yeah

Isn't it a bit rediculous that a) we outlaw something has harmless as gambling b) we try to tell ourselves that it's ok to gamble out on the water, but noT on land, unless you go to Vegas.

Rebuilding

I've heard there will be federal dollars to put the municpal harbors back to at least the way they were. The talk is that they will be better. As far as a time table...I don't know. I made the trip from Bay St. Louis to Pt. Cadet on my H310 today. Stayed about 1 1/2 miles off the beach and did not see any debris. Pt. Cadet Marina will be Miss Jenna's new home for a while. It survived pretty much intact because it is all concrete. But it is boat unfriendly and poorly designed. Tom S/V Miss Jenna
