There are several posters on this board who are on the Gulf Coast. From New Orleans over as far as Ft.Walton Beach, and points between. Seems like a good opportunity for a little get together, raft up or whatever for this holiday season. Maybe a dinner meet at one of the casinos if the weather doesn't co operate, or a raft up over around Biloxi/Mobile if the weather is nice. Some of you I know, and would like to meet and greet others in the area. Biloxi casino or Biloxi/Mobile islands are pretty centered. Everyone post up their thoughts, and time frame suitable for them. Maybe we can work something out. As for me, you can pretty well just tell me when and where, and I'll be there.

Meet and Greet

Sounds like a good idea to me. Just a suggestion, since Mobile/Fairhope is kinda central to FT walton / New Orleans. How abt I get the cafe' at my marina to host everyone. WE have a covered patio that over looks the marina/ channel to the bay. They have a pretty good menu and not a bad view to boot. Dont have transit slips but parking is ok. I thinki they can seat abt 75 people or better. Charles Creel 251-401-6457 www.sailingmobile.com

Set a date and time

I need an excuse to go to the coast!!! ((((I promise not to talk politics or religion.)))) A weekend would be good. If we can't get a crew position then we can bring our kayaks and look at the gators in upper Mobile Bay. Unfortunately with our boat on Wheeler lake bringing the boat is not an option.

Works for us!

The admiral and I have been hangout hopping by 4 Runner - the Oar House, Pirates Cove, Lulu's, Barnacle Bill's, Huck's Cove. She is a Fairhope/Foley Shop-a-holic - boats, food, shoping ... I suggest Nice N Easy and Chuck work out a day/time. With so many that would want to go anything else may be difficult. Pick a time, lwt us know and we will be there - or not. Thanks NnE

Wonderful Idea

Unfortunatly I am going to be at Disney the next couple of weekends and then it is Christmas. If the date y'all come up with is after that I'm in, at least till Mardis Gras anyway. As for where to meet I'd like to suggest either Huck's or the Flora-Bama; the wife says Mary Mahoney's but she is just thinking about herself. She works in Biloxi and comes home on weekends the kids and I can go that way one weekend instead.

Good Response

Nice to see so many Gulf Coast folks interested in meeting up. The weather this time of year is too unpredictable to make any plans more than a couple of days ahead, so how bout we all just meet up somewhere for a nice dinner and get together. Maybe plan a sailing raft up later in the spring or early summer. I am game for just about any where. Chucks idea seems as good as anything. If that fits with everyones idea, lets get started on setting a date and make it happen. Like slippery I am retired and just about open to any time.

Friday will Leave Me Out

We will be putting our daughter and her band on a plane to go to Pasadena, Californiaand march in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Saturday I could probably get over there. Where is your marina Chuck? Fairhope is a little more than half way to Biloxi and Dog River is well passed the halfway point. Just trying to figure out where to plan on spending the night.

Do not forget us folks in Panama City! The "Gulf Coast" does not stop at FtWalton! Entered my H31, 1987 in the Gulfport to Pensacola Race a few years ago, took 3 1/2 days (yes we stopped each night) to get to Gulfport via Intercoastal, little too far for a weekend trip. Bill

Saturday the 29th

Saturday the 29th seems like a solid choice. And either Fly Creek or LuLu's is also fine with most it seems. Since Chuck has volunteered to make the reservations, I vote that we do this on the 29th, at Fly Creek. Can everyone live with that.

Yes to Fly Creek

Sounds like a central location not too far from I-10. The 12/29 is ok. What about the time? Tom pfleeger1@juno.com

Rats, Have to vote by proxy

I will be in Mobile for a short time during Christmas but as (bad) luck would have it I have to leave the day after Christmas. Otherwise I would hang around for the fun, it would be good to see y'all in person. If there is a race/regatta/causal sail or get together the Saturday before Christmas, somebody please email me. Here's to the Eastern Shore. cheers!

The 29th it is

Looks like the 29th will work for all concerned. If Chuck can get us reservations for somewhere around 6:30 or 7:00 we are on. Really looking forward to it. I would also like to point out that the week between Christmas and New Years is almost like vacation time, and any of you from snow country would be made welcome. It is 70 degrees right now at almost 11 PM. Would have to promise you won't stay.:)
