Hi all,

Does anyone have a Guest Spotlight with a remote controller. Ours hadn’t been used in quite a while but we had excellent service from it. The tech at Marinco found an operation guide for me but stated the light was obsolete. I’m wondering if the receiver on the light is burnt out, I’ll check the possibility. If it is, can we hard wire it to a cockpit direct controller? We’ll be skipping the dip switches.

TIA

TOM

I found a loose wire that I tightened and had momentarily right/left and up/down but it stopped working when I tried the light.

Remember when we were young and we couldn't get our car to start? The headlights were bright as usual, so the battery had to be good, right? Nope, starter wouldn't go would it?
So now you have the same in reverse. The light is taking all the juice, and this is causing a failure. Therefore, I believe somewhere in all those wires there is a bad connection. While I was at it, I'd probably lube the light axis, as it might have a bit of salt or corrosion that also is creating more resistance.
If all else fails, with 4 momentary on toggle switches and an off and on, it should be easy enough to fabricate a really nice looking panel on smoked plexiglass. Then, pick the place in the cockpit coaming you want it and install. You might need a cover if the switches could get leaned on.

Remember when you hid candy, well here is me squeezing into the anchor locker to find those wires.10874BA3-A2FA-4EA2-BF49-B83BE5CDE9A5.jpegC83C44E7-85AB-49E8-8BAA-FE049002935E.jpeg
and the 293C receiver. Marinco support sent me the information sheets and it’s possible problem exists in the light base.

Opened the light base and it looked pristine. The controller board heldin by a Phillips screw. Doesn’t rule out any issues being that clean. I had 13.5v on the red wire to ground, but 6.0v from red to black. Not sure what the white wire does.

And here is the antenna for the spotlight base, I may have found one loose connection after I pulled the antenna but I checked inside and it looks pristine also
