Grounding of the mast

The old ground wire that comes from the mast, through the deck, is letting rain water drip into the V-berth area. Should I just lay the silicone to it or take the wire out completely and plug the hole?Thanks,Richard

I wouldn't use silicone. Doesn't last. Use a non silicone base sealant like Silkens 291. Goes rubbery and stays rubbery and won't leak.
