While waiting for the trailer to come and take my 1975 25' Oday to the launch ramp, i thought i might do a little more cleaning in the after bilge. What i found was a wire that had been cut. I traced this wire back and found it was attached to the port chain plate bottom side. The top side of the chain plate had a wire attached from the mast tabernacle. Does anybody know how/where this ground wire attaches to the hull? I have no ground plate or any other way to attach this wire to the boat that i can find.

Possibly to a keel bolt?
I have seen some people who connect all metal to a keel bolt with the thinking that it will equalize potential and prevent electrolysis. Could be lightning protection? Size of the wire? Could also just be leftover junk from a previous owner. Cheers, Bob
