I recently purchased a Groco K Series head on eBay. It appears to be in very good shape, and I've heard from reliable sources that it's a good head. However, I'm a little confused on how it's supposed to work. There is both a lever, and a pedal to operate it. I'm "assuming" that you use the lever to pump water into the bowl, and the pedel to release, or "flush" it. However, I also heard that the pedel operates a fresh water supply, so I'm not sure. Anyone out there familiar with this?

Model K is Groco's top of the line toilet

List price is well over $500. The link Paul gave you is the Groco site. You can get a manual for it from Groco...give 'em call at 410-712-4242. It is NOT designed to be connected to the fresh water system. The pedal operates the flush water valve, which is independent of the discharge pump. If the toilet is below the waterline, just step on it till the desired amount of water is in the bowl, then release it and pump the bowl contents out. Any used toilet sold on eBay is likely to need work...the seller prob'ly sold it when he found out whatever it needs would cost him more than a new Jabsco...which is kinda like selling a BMW to buy a Yugo because a tune up for the BMW costs as much as new Yugo, but you'd be amazed at how often that happens. Give Groco a call and ask for Pat...he'll answer all your questions about it.

No Illusions

This purchase was kind of interesting. The guy had posted that he would not ship (from Maine, I believe, and I'm in TX). He wasn't getting any bids, so I sent him a question asking if he would reconsider about shipping. He said he would ship it, but it would be expensive because of the weight. I won the bid for $1 (no typo, that's one dollar), and told him that wasn't a fair amount to cover the trouble of packing it up. So I paid $25 plus shipping. Shipping was $100. I figure even with that, and the price of the service or rebuild kit, I still got a bargain. It's in pretty good shape. I had planned on buying at least a service kit, and probably a rebuild kit, when I bought it, so that's no surprise. However, I just couldn't figure it out looking at it. Thinking back, what I "remembered" reading as the "fresh water pedal" may have been "flush water pedal". Thanks for the advice. Out of all the things on our boats, the head is the main thing my wife is "fussy" about. She likes the idea of having a full size toilet on our Coronado.
