I recently replaced the hoses and cleared the vent hose to the holding tank on my 1988 Cat 30. I thought the tank was leaking, but it was a clogged vent. Perhaps the pumping was causing a leak from a weak connection. The Groco head is now allowing liquid to pass through without pumping. I called Groco and they said that was OK. I suspect there is something wrong with a valve, however. The boat is still on the hard, so there is no raw water coming to the head. Has anyone had this situation? Any responses will be appreciated. Thanks...John

If your joker valve is old and has lost it's integrity, or if there is something (you know what I mean here!) stuck in the joker valve, liquids will likely pass through easily. Both ways. Is there more odor in the head than normal?

Jack...Thanks for the reply. There is no odor in the head as it hasn't been used since the tank was emptied and replaced. Only water has been put through as a test for leaks. I guess the only way to see if the joker valve is being held open is to take the head apart. Was trying to avoid that, since there is hardly enough room in the head to change your mind!...Thanks, again...John
