what does that mean? What would you do with a tank of grey water? .... I am probably asking a really dumb question but I don't understand the question I guess.

Grey water tanks are required in Lake Tahoe. You sinks are supposed to drain into a seperate container!

This is becoming more common due to total Non-Discharge laws... Nothing over the side, including gray water. On Lake Superior for instance you cannot discharge Gray Water within the Isle Royale National Park.

Grey Tank - Sinks, shower drains, etc.
Black Tank - toilet waste.

Have you considered just directing the drains flow into the blackwater tank. I can understand the depending on the use of the boat storage capacity may be a limiting factor. That would make for a less costly and reduced labor installation. Just food for thought.

The original poster is from Sidney B.C. I doubt he will be sailing in Lake Tahoe anytime soon.

As noted there are some places where a grey water tank is needed but B.C. allows dumping anything except in 9 protected bays. Holding tanks will be mandatory this coming May.

It is highly not recomended to plumb sinks to black water tanks due to possible bacterial contamination

Yeah...and for some extra fun, go to an RV forum and ask if it's okay to pee in the shower.....
