Gremlins in the bilge

I'm not 100% positive but I think our water woes came from a siphoning bilge pump. Yesterday was raining so I got to look through the window at our boat since it was delivered the day before. We got the rest of our cruising stuff and all the cushions off the boat and then I got the garden hose. I filled the bilge and the electric pump kicked on. It cycled and then stopped with the usual amout of backwash spilling back into the bilge.
The wife and I followed the hose along the hull back under the quarter-berth. With a screw-gun I opened the access panel and found the hose barely looping off the hull, no siphon break. Our plan is to run the hose into the port locker where we'll mount a siphon break beside the hand bilge pump and then to the same through-hull. No signs of leak anywhere back there.:cussing: Stupid gremlins. My boat in the rain, no leaks.
