Hi to all, We're in Tofino about halfway up the West side of Vancouver Island in the fourth week of our summer cruise. We're currently rafted up with John and Ingrid Nantz on Servus, their H35. We buddy boated the first week with Peter and Anne Milne on Blue Heron their H430 between Victoria and Barkley Sound. We've seen humpback, gray and Orca whales at close range, bears in our anchorage, eagles galore. A highlight has been Hot Springs which is a waterfall that falls into a series of pools that make their way down to the ocean. The water at the top is 121 degrees fahrenheit but gets progressively cooler. Great for soaking and with neat views as well. Weather has been largely great though we got to try our our new Gale Sail beating into 25 knot winds around Race Rocks. It works great! Will write more later. Gary Wyngarden S/V Wanderlust H375

Sounds great!

Hi Gary - Since you've made it up to Tofino, I suggest you spend some time in East Clayoquot Sound, a favorite area of ours, since most people don't seem to head that way (you're only an easy day from there now!). When you get back into Ucluelet, say hello to our old sailing friends who now live there, Bill and Shelly aboard "Wolf Willow". And tell Steve Bird, the Harbormaster, hello for me! I've been listening to the forecasted gales on the Southern portion of Vancouver Island, so I hope you are making out ok - sounds like you are. All the best from everyone here at SBO! Trevor
