Hello
New to group and having great fun rummaging thru the files and messages.
I'm searching for a pocket cruiser and I guess it'll surprise no one the Vega made the short list.

My question concerns Mr Vigors rating of the boats in 20 Small Boats...
First I should say my experience with the boats in question varies from one to three hours on boats searchs some 15 to 30 years ago. So about zero knowledge other then what one may read.
While considering Mr Vigors numbers too hard or absolute may be the wrong tack or of limited value I often rate boats in my own mind and found this aspect of his book interesting.

So I'm wondering if someone might explain or have an opinion on why the Vega rated far ahead of Triton an a little ahead of the Alberg 30?(sorry,it was a library book, forgot # but just relative anyway)

I am talking from memory but I think due to the convination of a few factors:

1) a formula of the size amidships (the vega is a "narrow" boat), its weight (could have done better) and the deapth of its keel (onther good factor).

2) hull/deck integrity, the vega has a lot less potential "leaking" points (hatches), the thinkness of its hull and deck, that they are fixed together with screws all over, that the keel is encapsulated and it has an "internal" rudder.

3) the extra 3 incres (sorry dont know the technical name) on the cockpit which make her significantly drier than a boat of comparable size.
