IF I was to retire and move south to the Jacksonville area....What might we find in the way of marinas w/slips, general sailing conditions (day sailing and also some cruising) IF I was to move my Hunter 28.5 with us?????

Marinas In JAX

I moved to JAX about 3 years ago and brought my 2002 356 with me. I live in Fernandina Beach and keep my boat at the Amelia Island Yacht Basin. The mere use of the word Yacht raises the price exponentially. The marina is great and the club I belong to(Amelia Island Sailing Club) is the best group of people I have ever met. Unfortunately marinas are expensive ($11.00 -15.00 per foot per month), and getting more expensive as they are consumed to become waterfront Condos. Send me an e-mail at captain@burnsweb.com and I can answer your questions in more detail.

Don't do it

Keep it on a trailer so you can get the hell out of dodge! You can not buy insurance down here for a boat over 30 ft., much less in the water, so don't even think of it. Otherwise, bring your checkbook.
