Bravo!

Way to go, Apple O'day! Yes, it was a glorious weekend -- on Raritan and Sandy Hook Bays as well. Blue skies, fair winds, gentle seas, and a good lookin' crew (photo to follow). Glad to hear you had a good time of it on the Sound. I hope there's still plenty of breezes in a couple weeks when I'll be beating a path to Milford. rOnDAYvous here we come!!! Impressive

Appleman, I just want to say that the exterior teak on your boat (as shown in your photo) is impressive indeed. Having just refinished the teak on my Oday 23 for the first time (I bought it last year, and the previous owner had long ago given up on the teak), I know how much work it must have been to get your wood looking that good. I'm impressed! How'd you do it? (Advice welcome!) I should add that while you were enjoying fair winds on LI Sound, we were battling some very gusty and shifty winds on Lake George on Sunday. They sure challenged this newbie sailor! Talk about sailing on a slant! Bob

Yes it was!

Sailed most of the afternoon and got back to our mooring late for us at 7PM. Absolutely gorgeous! At the eastern end of the sound the wind was locked in at around 9kts and didn't vary more than 1kt. Our daughter was at an overnight so we were free to stay over. Stayed all day Sunday too. This one was special.

Thanks for the Info

Thanks for the information, Appelman. I suspected you must have used something like Cetol, but obviously you did a whole lot more than just put on some Cetol to get such a rich and appealing look. Bravo! That's just fine work. I'm now inspired to do mine again (as soon as I learn how to handle stiff winds!). Bob

Treatment Before Cetol?

Appleman -- teak looks great! Did you use any kind of stain BEFORE you put on the new Cetol? Or did the Cetol darken the teak up to that warm color? Thanks.

Appleman,

Hi, Your teak looks great! I've been holding out redoing my teak cause I have not seen the natural Cetol yet up close but we'll see ya at the rOnDAYvous. And the sailing on the Great South Bay was the best last weekend even went out Sat night for a moonlight sail with the wife
