For years I have been launching and retrieving with the trailer but now it's simply a matter of throwing off the lines and sailing away. "Wonderful".

This summer the wife and I switched up from towing, rigging, launching to keeping it rigged up on the trailer at our local marina. This radically altered our usage, now we will often go out for the evening after work I recently counted float plans in my book, I`m up to 16 for this summer. On the trailer was a fraction of the cost of a slip. We can leave home, 15 minute drive, overboard 15 minutes after we reach the marina. Trailer parking, 24 hr gate key is on six month plan May-Oct. We will bring her home for the winter. We also brought her home for Irene. I agree with the "Wonderfull" . David

Yes, there is something to be said about deciding to drop by the boat on a minute's notice and getting a cold beer out of the refrigerator. Wether you cast the lines for a short sail or stay at the dock talking to your neighbor is your call.

The 26/260 trailers well for a boat its size but I'd agree that you can't beat just hopping aboard in a spontaneous way. Here's a shot of our very content 260 on a lift(actually she's much happier underway). She now lives out the hurricane season June-Sept tucked in the shop and then at her dock Oct-May.

Have a great season. I know I'm looking fwd to my season getting up to speed again. Mike

I know the feeling! I love being able to go out for a short sail. It's an easy system but that doesn't mean it isn't work.

Looks like you got plenty of room and don't have to worry about the adjacent boat when returning to your spot.

I love using a slip too. The hour drive to the closest marina takes some of the spontaneity out of my situation.

Still, it only takes 15 minutes to get under way once we reach the marina. (removing covers and shore power, bringing up cushions and gear, hoisting US Ensign, then casting off lines)

Have you considered putting the port side to the finger pier? That allows you to enter from the stern step.

Yes Dave I have!

But for the past 10 years I have only been able to park the trailer with the Starboard side facing the sun so now I need to roast her on the other side for a while. :)
