Didn't think we were going to go out today since we'd gone to work on the Stiletto.. but the wind was nice so off we went.. One of those days when we went out on a reach on port tack.. took some time to run up Bayou Lacombe (picture) then we got a big wind shift and went back doing broad reach.. Around 30 miles of fine sailing.. The lake was a bit high today so I knew we'd not have any trouble getting into the bayou..

Splashed the boat...

finally yesterday. Wasn't supposed to be any wind up here at the top of the Bay, but ran into 6 to 9 on the nose. In 90 degree heat, it was welcome. Sails were still in their bags below deck so it was a motor only day for the short trip to its home marina, but what a nice, steady wind up here!

Must be rusty from the winter--put the boat caddy-wampus across the slip in the third attempt to back in with wind shifting, blowing the bow off backing center line. Warped her in--glad no one was on the docks to witness the mess.

She floats, no leaks, engine fired on first attempt. Could be a good summer!

Today it's a bit gusty and temp's only in the high 70's -- talk about itchin' to go sailing!

Meant to mention that the bicycle drawbridge is manned and they are paying attention.. I was surprised that the State put the bridge in to get the St.Tammany Trace bike trail over Bayou Lacombe, and that they have someone watching.. On VHF 13 like a normal bridge and has the horn signals OK as well.
