My sailmaker suggested I install new sailslides to cure a problem I had hoisy img the fully battoned main main on my 335 with the pre-bent mast. They work wonderfully, I can now hoist the main without using the winch!!! The slides at the ends of the battons were replaced and they cost $40.00 installed, the best investment I have ever made as I was seriously looking at these fancy ball bearing sailtrack systems that cost an arm and a leg. Anyone with a similar mast and full length battons should invest in a set of these.....ASAP.

I will contact my sailmaker and get all the low down on ,anufacturer etc. These slides have have a slot that the edge of the mast slides in and prevents the slide from twisting and jamming in the track.

Try Strong Track
I put a strong track mast system on my 380 this winter for the same reason and it's a best investment we ever made. Our H380's mainsail would never come down on it's own and had to be pulled down from the mast. Now we release the main halyard and get out of the way. Sail flakes itself into the Hunter Stackpack system, we zip it up and we are done! It's also easy to install, after carefully measuring everything twice and ordering the right stuff I installed it with my wife in two hours. One hour to slide in and secure the new track, and one hour to cut off the existing sail slides and replace them with the new ones. Awesome product! www.tidesmarine.com Bob Knott H380

I have seen recommendations on the Strong Track system before. I've checked the system out on the web. Great product, but too expensive for me. I have a 340, and like you, get tired of wrestling with the main halyard on the winch. Seems there should be an easier way -- short of spending a thousand bucks or more. The seller is quoting $25 a foot for the Strong system. On a H340 thats got to be around $1125 for about 45 feet. For that kind of money, I can still do a lot of winching. However, I would be delighted if you could pass along the manufacturer of your slides. Thanks, Wynn Ferrel

Colin, My sail maker essentially did the same thing. We put a special silicone impregnated slide at each batten. He also moved the slides for each batten down about 3 inches. It keeps the batten from twisting the slide and jamming in the slot during raising or lowering. It's the same principle behind the expensive articulated batten pockets offered by some of the companies. Short story is I can raise my 37.5 sail to within inches of the top without the wench. Squirt a little detergent in the mast slot and it is almost fun to raise. Les s/v Mutual Fun
