Check out the pix posted by the NASA folks at the earth observatory web site. Only been a handful of times that Superior was completely socked in by ice. Nice to see a different correlation of air temperature vs ice coverage for the kind of winter we have had rather than the correlation of air temperature to my hydro bills..8^). Me thinks spring is a wee bit away yet. One good from all of this is the water levels should be higher this summer due to little loss of evaporation from the ice coverage and the large snow pack yet to melt from the Great Lakes Watershed. Don

When Lake Superior froze over around 1910 according to my Grandmother, Ivy Goldsworthy of Lake Linden, Michigan. She and her friends were kept in the house for most of the winter as a result! David Lady Lillie

Try this site for levels of Michigan/Huron

This site is useful but I'm afraid not very encouraging. I appears that this year is expected to be about the same as 2001 or a foot below last year.
