had a wonderful sail yesterday . Not so for others, there were four calls on the radio about boats taking on water .listening to the coast guard try to get locations from these people was painful.
One person when asked repeatadlywhere he was claimed he was approx 30 miles offshore. It's only 30 miles from one side to the other.???
They had him shooting flairs to see if anyone could locate him.they weren't having any luck
another was a 20 ft bayliner taking water into the engine compartment, no pump, just a handheld one.??? He couldn't tell them where he was either.the coastguard finally found him and towed him to a dock.
The other two were able to get assistance.
I dont know the end results, hopefully everything worked out.
Listening to the CG repeat themselves over and over, talk slowly and clearly, I realize how frustrating it must be to deal with people who are ill prepaired for emergencies. God bless them.
