Great day to sail

The weather forecast was calling for an overcast and cool day (max temp. in the high 50's), but with little chance of rain and winds maxing out at about 15 mph today out of the west. Since the wind has been from the west for a couple of days, being on the western side of Lake Michigan means there are flat seas and it should be excellent sailing. A friend of mine and I got to the boat around noon, and headed out. It was excellent! We sailed at hull speed for about 3 hours on a single-reefed main, and a jib rolled up to about 90. I'm glad I kept the boat in the water and I'm hoping for a couple more sails like that before I pull it for the last time.

Yep, that time of year when we look for Indian summer days. I always stayed in the water on Lake Erie until November. Doing the same thing with the little boat on the little lake. Looks like tomorrow(65 degrees and SSW at 10-15) will be one of those days. Then nothing above 55 for next several days. Still hoping for a few sailing days in October. On Atwood Lake we have to get out when they announce they are letting the water out of the lake.
