Some time last fall I bought a Nicro Day/Night solar vent and installed it to help keep the mildew down in the off season. Seemed to help a great deal. Then, a couple weekends ago, I noticed it wasn't running. After a little diagnosing, I determined the battery and solar panel were fine, but the motor just wouldn't run. My first thought was "Sh*t, I have no idea where the receipt is for this thing, and it wasn't cheap." I know it's still under warranty, but I can't prove it. I don't even remember which month I bought it. Well, I decided to call them anyway and see if I could beg and convince them to give me a break. I never even got that far. I told the guy how I tested it to deduce it was the motor, and he agreed that had to be the problem. Then he asked for my name and address. I was waiting for him to ask me when I bought it, or tell me to pack it up with a copy of the receipt. Instead, he said they'd ship me a new one, just swap out the whole solar panel/battery/motor assembly and send the old one back. No questions asked. That put a big smile on my face. Especially after having just sent my autohelm to the factory for an expensive out of warranty repair.

Similar experience, same company

Mine (apparently) was a 1st generation Day/Night and I deduced via a bench test that the motor worked but the battery/solar wasn't. That design didn't allow a change out which resulted in the same procedure you described: returned the old unit upon receipt of the replacement, n/c except for the cost to ship the old unit, which is more than fair. It's been Nicro-Marinco from that point forward whenever there's been a choice and this happened 5 years ago. Nice to be able to compliment a company for positive decisions :)
