Your photo comparison of the 310 & 320 was great! I like several features from both boats so it's really hard to choose. Just looking at the interiors, it's impossible to make a firm decision but I kinda like the 310 (although I sure like the galley & companionway ladder of the 320 better!). Thanks for the report! It is tough

Yeah, I liked the 320 galley, too. It really is a tough choice and I'll bet you anything the deciding factor for most sailors is the number of crew. I think the 310, for two, is hard to beat. It's an ideal layout for a couple. The 320 just plain makes more sense for the small crowd most weekend sailors take along. Or, for that matter, a family. I asked a couple of the sales guys at the show if that was true but didn't ever get a clear answer.

310 great for a young family too

I agree with all the different view points. And it is tough to choose between the 310 and 320. They're both such beautiful boats!!! Although the 310 really is ideal for the cruising couple (read; empty nesters) we found it ideal for a young family as well. My two children will be 4 and 8 this summer and the quarter berth provides ample room for two small children. The fact that there's no fixed door to that berth is just perfect. In anticipation of a few years down the line, we've asked Catalina to custom fit our boat to accommodate a conversion of the main sette/galley table into an additional berth that's just under 6" in legnth. This will give us more sleeping flexibility (to say nothing of sleeping out in the cockpit)as the kids enter their teenage years. By the time our young family outgrows the 310, in another 8 to 10 years, we'll be ready to move on to another boat anyway. So, I'd like to suggest that the 310 is really ideally suited for empty nesters AND young families who don't plan on haing frequent live-aboard guests (and we certainly don't!). Kurt
