I have a Garmin 45SL GPS which I have been using for the last 3 years. I have some "old" DOS based software from Garmin for uploading and downloading Way Points from and to my computer. The software is "old" technology and I feel I should update to more modern software. Does anyone know of other/more modern software that will work with my GPS. Of course, freeware would be nice.

Free GPS Software!

A friend told me about the following site for free downloadable GPS software. It is at: http://www.oziexplorer.com/ I use it to upload/download my waypoint lists and track historys for my Garmin 12CX. You can also scan/capture your own maps and charts (.bmp format). The software allows you to calibrate them by entering a couple of known latitude and longnitude values. Then it can interpolate through the rest of the image. I just got back from a trip to New Mexico. I took my GPS along and recorded the flight and driving around in the desert. I found a site with aerial topographic maps that had Lat/Lon info. Check those out at: http://fermi.jhuapl.edu/states/states.html I was able to use Oziexplorer to see where we had been. Its pretty cool. Good Luck. Allan
