I know you get what you pay for. But for inland lakes has anyone used a GARMIN GPSMAP® 430/430X GPS RECEIVER Chartplotter. I was surprised at the price on ebay under $300 new. I'm looking more for fun than necessity. Just curious if you have one or have used one please let me know.

you don't need to spend that much

I carry a pair of Garmin GPSMAP 76 units on my boat as backups to the main navigation systems. They're fabulous navigational tools, can be used in a dinghy or a kayak, and they float.
