GPS multi pin connector

Having trouble with my Garmin 498 chartplotter. Female side of the plug was left out over winter under the pedestal cover so its a bit corroded. Plugged it into my garmin & hit the power button.
Only got 3 short beeps and a blank screen.
Any ideas? Anyone have this happen or know a good way to remedy this?

Had a similar problem with my remote mic as well as other devices in the past. Connectors are a ongoing problem in marine environment especially if you disconnect. Try using electrical contact spray - available in marine and auto stores, spray on both sides: male and female connectors. Once dry - which is fairly quick then use dielectric grease. I keep a can of contact spray along with dielectric grease in my boat tool kit.
