GPS and ST4000

Can anyone tell me if the Raytheon ST4000 Autopilot (1990 vintage)with Sea Talk is compatible with a Garmin GPSMAP 76 via an NMEA connection ?

It should be... however, there is a very often encountered communication struggle that happens if the ground of the ST 4000 -NMEA is not taken to the GPS ground. For futher details seehttp://www.stewartfam.net/arlyn/pigtail.html

ST4000, and GPS

I believe that the 4000 needs an interface for the NMEA. The 4000+ will take NMEA data, as there are connections on the back of the control unit.
