I've just lost the race. I'm depressed. I guess I have to break down and paint the bottom, again. What is it with slime anyway? Why me? Whew! Don't I feel better. Hey, has anybody used any of the Peel Away type products? Do they really work, or is it a $200 waste of time? Please tell me. Thankx, Kevin

I was not impressed with it

I found it just as easy to sand the old bottom off.

Peel Away

I used Peel Away this weekend to take off about four coats of old paint off the rudder. The stuff is hard to put on with a brush and I ended up using a putty knife to trowel it on like drywall compound. I put about an 1/8" thick layer and then covered it with the paper they give you. (they don't give you much paper). I let the stuff work while I waxed the hull about 3 hours. I finally peeled the paper away and nothing stuck to the paper. I took the putty knife and with no pressure the paint just fell off into the bucket I held underneath. In my marina we have a no sand policy to limit the airborne dust so it was the only way to go but I was really pleased with the results I got.

peel away

If you go the "peel away" route buy it at Home Depot, it's about half the cost of the Marine version and it's the exact same thing.... Good luck!
