If you have had a new rudder made you may have a suprize when you try to use the emergency tiller supplied with the boat. Fortunately I decided to try mine in the cradle before the steering system failed. I'm looking at modifications to make it work since it does not fit the new rudder. I'm not sure if the new rudder tube is a different dimension or has a large wall thickness. I'd like to think the new rudder is stronger. Be sure to try yours and know how to use it before your steering system fails. Barry

New Rudder

I have the same problem. Had a new rudder made for my '77 h30. The thickness of the rudder post wall is thicker than the original. I now need to modify my emergency tiller to fit the new post. -Roland s/v Fraulein II
