Don't know where this water is coming from. Gathers in the galley. I could take a running water hose and a case of beer and figure it out but I was thinking someone might have had the same leak and I won't need the hose. Any ideas?

What year and model Hunter are you referring to? What is the location of the photo?

the photo is of galley. The cubby hole is behind the cover for the ice box. Right below the dog. Leak is freshwater!

Is this a guessing game? Rain water, from the companionway slider, through the cabin liner into the cubby hole. Final answer!

You are going to have to get the hose out and chill that case of beer. I suggest you start wetting the cabin top in sections for 15 minutes at a time and observe. You can do the slider, then each fixture that you may have on cabin top and the porthole closest to the galley. Don't forget the chainplates and the railing in the deck to hull joint on the starboard side. Good luck, hope you find before you run out of beer.

I had same leak on my 27. Looked for it for for 2 years. Removed and rebeded hand rail , sea hood , port lite. the leak was coming from the toe rail bolts. rebed or smear some calking around bolt. Good luck

I too have a hunter 27 1981 with the same problem. The leak is a thick brown teak colored substance that drips all over the same areas as does yours. I'm thinking it is from the hand rail since I frequently apply teak oil. I will be trying all those ideas mentioned by others. Stay in touch I have owned this boat since 85 and have gone through many issues. love the boat anyway.

I was kidding before-...your teak bleed may be a clue- but another source could be the bond between your cabin and the hull- I a fellow in my marina was getting water inside and since his boat did spend some time rubbing the the post midship or so , it opened up the seam and water got in. He pulled his rubrail off the Newport and recaulked all around - no leak. I would first be sure the teaky color isn't getting in thru a side window. A lot easier to caulk than than the cabin/hull seam.

Just rebeded the windows

after replacing the lenses and replaced the gasket material in the window frames. Sounds like it it time to rebed the toe rails. Fun Fun!

Re: Just rebeded the windows

don't think you want to tke on that job. Rebed the handrails and rebed the bolts on the toe rail. Try sealing the bolts and edge of toe rail and see if that works . have fun
