Last fall I repacked my stuffing box with Gore Tex packing. So far this year, the packing is living up to its advertising -- no drips with the packing nut only snugly tightened. The packing is permanently lubricated so, according the the manufacturer, there is no need for drips to provide lubrication. It is also supposed to last many years, which I intend to verify. It was certainly worth the extra cost.
