Boom connection

Can you post a picture? I'm not sure what is missing. Here's a picture of my mast to boom connection.

Think you might want to post what year your boat is and what kind of spar you have. My gooseneck fitting is very different (can't get a picture because the mast is down and stowed)

Sorry to hear about your new boat trouble. Id agree that a quick pic will help so we can help get you back up to speed. Bought our old H240 on lake Patoka. Nice area and great memories. Mike

I don't see anything missing on the gooseneck, so what does the end of the boom look like. It should have two ears that slip over the pivot on the gooseneck and the clevis pin should go through the three holes and held on. I uses a large split ring on my 26, but you could use a Cotter pin too, but you have to replace it every year. If all of the castings are in good shape, the only way I could see the boom coming off is if the cotter pin failed or the end of the clevis pin wore out enough to go through the holes. It's a pretty simple and bullet proof connection.
