I don't see anything missing on the gooseneck, so what does the end of the boom look like. It should have two ears that slip over the pivot on the gooseneck and the clevis pin should go through the three holes and held on. I uses a large split ring on my 26, but you could use a Cotter pin too, but you have to replace it every year. If all of the castings are in good shape, the only way I could see the boom coming off is if the cotter pin failed or the end of the clevis pin wore out enough to go through the holes. It's a pretty simple and bullet proof connection.Can you post a picture? I'm not sure what is missing. Here's a picture of my mast to boom connection.
