Hi! I'm looking for good web-sites that discuss the pros and cons of sailboat construction. When I go to the manufacturers web-sites, it's all sunshine and daisies, with little true content. What I really need is a site that objectively discusses how each manufacturer designs & builds their boats and how this impacts cost, reliability, durability, longevity, and resale value. Thanks! -w

Topic for heated debating

Go post your specific questions on sailnet.com. JeffH and others have some well informed, and opinionated comments waiting. While I've been cruising the net for the same information, I have gotten the best info from the debates that rage on the CWBB, Sailnet, and TSBB. Dixdesign.com does give some decent commentary, and I have been particularly impressed with Bob Perry's comments on design on the CWBB and Sailinganarchy.com. I don't remember the particular nature of the post, but Bob had some very interesting comments on why he preferred the performance characteristics of his newer designs to those of his canoe sterned and very successfull older models. A google search on Bob Perry will yield tons.

One favorite.

There are so many good books on the subject, esp. by Vigor. But when I want to look at technical data on the web I go to the Related Link. Page down and select "Technical Articles" to start.
