going to the boat this weekend, got my new a/c panel, looking for advice/ input on changing them out. i posted a picture of the old one on the second page of thereisabells' photo album (28 pics.) if anyone wants a peek. #1 concern is on our new shore power cord (female end) one is brown. burnt. #2 when i plug in the tester i get 2 yellow lights on all receptacles except one, starb. v- berth. #3 location, engine room same place? this will require building a small box. or face out to the salon, not much room there; d/c panel and batt. switch under steps. nav. table hinged over lazerret... #4 think i need new 30 amp. male connector at the shore power plug in. will try and look inside this to see if wires are crimped or corroded first. welcome all input and humor. jimbob

Not knowing your layout it is hard to suggest where to put a new one. What is wrong with the current location. Since the wiring terminates/originates there now it seems logical.
Your shorepower fix could be as simple as cold solder on the back of the male plug. Does it get wet at the plug-in? That can cause your blackening arc problem.

Ed, yes it could go right there, and i figured make a box that hinges away to acess the insides. leave some slack in the wires for opening. the new one is so nice in appearance that i would like it diplayed... let me find a pic. of the companionway and lazarette and add it to photos. can't say it didn't get wet. a visual insp. is forthcomeing. thnks. jb
