as much of a fan as I am of Nigel Calder and what he has to share with the world thru his books, I dont think he will be doing much sharing with us poor folks from the book of his listed in the links below...

Evidently, what he has to share is not worth as much in the UK, but here in America his knowledge seems to be a very valuable commodity..

I have not read it, so I cant be absolutely certain, but Im pretty sure this newer book of his does not contain so much more valuable information than his older one does..

what would you suppose would cause this particular book to be so valuable here, when its available new in the UK for $50-60usd + shipping?.. the top price for a new one here in the US is nearly $6000, but it DOES come with free shipping....

there are other sites offering the book as well, with the same average pricing... so maybe the copy listed for $119 is a typo

if anyone should purchase this edition, please give us a book review so that we may determine if we need to rush out and buy our own copy

Online new/used books stores on Amazon use programmatic real-time pricing systems to price most items. No humans involved. The program looks at the number of available units in the entire market, asking prices, and selling history. Sometime the systems from different stores can 'race' each other to do stupid things. Like there.

when I type in "nigel calder", it has a lot (20 pages) of his books, and on page 5 is the book in question showing the prices that i have previously sent the link for...

the title is "Boatowner's Practical and Technical Manual", by Nigel Calder.

I have not went thru the 20 pages of books under his name, so I dont know if there is another one listed at a cheaper price, but then thats not considered a "quick" search anyway

But it is very interesting that third party sellers on Amazon do have a problem with location of decimal points. Just for fun, contact the seller and ask if they are serious about the price. Would love to hear their justification other than "there's a sucker born every minute".
