The good news is that the drought in North Texas will be broken on Sunday. The bad news is that we will probably exceed the annual rainfall in one day. But the lakes will be full again.

And more bad news . . .

While your lakes may fill, and the forecasted landfall is south of Houston and not a major city, it is where my sister and family lives. They packed all that they could carry and headed out today. Obviously, they're hoping for the best, but fearing the worst. While they are above sea level, it's not much, and a major surge could likely take their home. T J

And more good news

With wall to wall hurricane coverage, we don't have to listen to so much of the typical nonsense about Iraq, casualties, prisoner abuse, etc. TJ, I hope your family and those others in the path of Rita are ok. I am still packed from La. and I don't care what anyone says, I like MREs. It sounds like Texas is much better prepared for this one though.

There are those who will purport a causal relationship between the two.

Yes

We aren't below sea level in most places so everything will drain...within time. We usually have to wait for the tide to go out before drainage starts for the Houston area. It floods here a lot but we are used to it. Now 4 years ago when we had a tropical storm sit on top of us for a week because of two fronts that wouldn't let it move, we had a terrible flood that made about 1% of homes needing restoration. That's a lot of homes. My neihborhood handled it well so I'm not worried about my house from water...just flying objects breaking a window. My Ex who ripped my heart out and stomped on it and a whole of other things last year...her family lives just a few miles from shore near where it's expected to land. They owe me about $50,000 which I will never see a dime of so in a way...I hope they do loose their house. Call me all kinds of bad names for that but I'm just human and if I believed in god, I would feel this is god's revenge for me. SO THAT'S GOOD NEWS TO ME!

Got me, Phil! I wrote my sarcastic post

and figured you would nuke it. No problem from me - I was trying to make the point that stuff like that don't belong in this forum and poof! they were gone. Cheers, Bob s/v X SAIL R 8

Franklin,

You know, I've seen a lot of pictures of beautiful Texas women. Hopefully you'll get yourself a few. The time is getting close. It's been a year. That's when we let go. But wait 'till the storm passes. :)

Hunh???

Danny, I don't remember much about your post, but if I recall, I was trying to poke fun at Franklin in hopes he would lighten up a bit...... Trust me, there's no 'good old boy support group' going on here..... everybody gets treated the same in my experience..... and some people are nicer than others.... sorta like the real world, no? Hope you don't bail on us.... there's lots of good stuff in these forums, and we need all the good people we can find. Cheers, Bob s/v X SAIL R 8

Let her go

I did read her post, but not yours Bob. I did think it was a man who wrote it and it hurt me to hear a man say that. I understand that my views aren't accepted by many. Many of my views go against mainstream. To make personal attacts is another thing. Nobody said anything about her or to her but yet she is the one who is offended. Just let her go and take her personal attacts someplace else.

Let her go?

Didn't even know 'she' was there. But she's typical of the 'people' that cause grief for guys like Franklin. And Franklin, glad the storm lightened up. How's your boat? P.S. Danny, I'm sure you're reading this. Look at your keyboard. See the shift-key? All lower case typing is childish and lazy.

shift?

fred, i thought that key was when you wanted to type at a faster speed, it does have a little "up" arrow on it.

Now the bad news

Now the bad news from the original post that talked about water in the pond, not lost loves. Looks like the easterly push from Rita will minimize, if not eliminate, the relief we were looking for in North Texas.

Just Lots of Wind

and no rain. Its not fair. Al those people in east Texas and Lou are getting the rain and they probably don't need it. Oh well, back to watching the depth gauge when I sail.
