Can anyone recommend a good marine surveyor near Wickford, RI (Newport area)? Found what I think is a good vessel there, but I'm in CT

Thanks

I used this one 4 years ago for an Insurance Survey in Wickford and was happy with his work.

I used this guy for my 10 year survey. He was highly recommended by the local Hunter dealer in Bristol, RI. I found him to be excellent both in quality of work and cost.

If I needed a surveyor I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

I agree with Rich Stidger, Peter A. Hunt. By the way Rich my boat is on the hard ready to launch early next week in Bristol marine.

Please stay away from Ken Johnson, Sr from Johnson Marine Services. He missed a rotten deck on a sailboat he surveyed in Noank, CT. All he had to do was run his moisture meter over the area. He did the hull, but never even used a moisture meter on the inside near the thru-hulls either. Terrible surveyor!!!

Unfortunately, Peter Hunt was booked solid (really busy time of year for all of them) . I even had trouble finding a yard in the area that could do the short haul. I have my survey on Tuesday, and will report back on how the guy I went with did

I ended up going with Jeff Stone of Azimuth Marine. I could not recommend him more highly--very thorough and knowledgeable. The boat was not really prepared for a proper survey because the owners had not cleared out all their "stuff" so access to necessary systems was slow, to say the least. But, he made sure he got access and got it done

He was very willing to call me over to explain something notable, or call me aside, away from the owner and broker and discuss something not so good. He uses a thermal imaging camera to look for wetness everywhere as well as a meter and a hammer. The guy knows his stuff and I would use him again in a heartbeat
