Looks like

Maybe you North East guys are just going to get side swiped, and not take a direct hit. That may not be good, but better than hit straight on. For a really neat tracker give www.stormpulse.com a look. I like it better than the others.

Nice Site, Bad Storm

From a visual perspective, I like Stormpulse, but not Kyle.

Maritimes await encounter with powerful storm

CBC News

Forecasters expect Hurricane Kyle to weaken slightly to tropical storm status before it brushes across the southern tip of Nova Scotia and makes landfall in New Brunswick just west of Saint John, sometime late Sunday or early Monday morning.

The storm could remain powerful enough, however, to uproot trees, erode soil in coastal areas and cause power outages as it makes landfall around the New Brunswick communities of Grand Manan, St. Stephen and Point Lepreau after midnight local time.

Kyle is expected to weaken as it crosses over colder northern waters and makes landfall overnight, but it will still bring heavy rain and maximum winds of 120 km/h. The storm grew to a Category 1 hurricane over the Atlantic Ocean off the U.S. coast on Saturday evening, forecasters said.

Officials in Maine issued the state's first hurricane watch in 17 years for coastal areas, according to the U.S. National Weather Service. The storm is aimed directly for Saint John, according to Guy Roussel, a meteorologist at the Canadian Hurricane Centre. Kyle is expected to lash the Maritimes with up to 140 mm of rain.

"Rainfalls will be kind of torrential in some areas. Within 12 hours you could get up to 100 mm of rain," Roussel said. "That would cause rivers to flood too and also cause flooding in the city, a lot of run-off and conditions like that."

A hurricane watch was issued for Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby counties in southwestern Nova Scotia. A tropical storm watch is in place for the rest of the province and southwestern New Brunswick, according to the Canadian Hurricane Centre.

At 8 a.m. ET Sunday, Kyle was centred about 265 kilometres south-southeast of Nantucket, or about 700 kilometres southwest of Halifax, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. In New Brunswick, officials with the Emergency Measures Organization are warning that the heavy rain may result in rapid increases in water levels in streams and rivers, and localized flash flooding.

They're anticipating power outages and urging people to prepare to be self-sufficient for 72 hours. Maritime Electric officials on Prince Edward Island also say heavy rain and high winds could mean a number of outages. The Canadian Red Cross is reminding Islanders they should prepare with emergency supplies to last three days.

Here in northeastern Maryland the outskirts of Kyle dumped a ton of rain on us yesterday but luckly we didn't get any heavy winds. Baltimore City suffered some flooding acording to the local news.

The Huricane and TS warnings have been dropped for us

The last 24 hours have been a little stressfull. Our mooring is very secure and I prepped the boat for 50mph winds but there is no way to prevent other boats from hitting me. Mooring up against a windward shore would do it but with huricanes, the wind can shift around 180 degrees.

Update...!!

It's currently 6:37 P.M. and I just came back from the beach. There is not even enough wind to create a ripple on the water and so little wind the boats are all facing different directions.

The storm trackers shows Kyle 220 miles off Portland but it clearly does not have the reach to touch us too badly! The band of 39-57 mph wind is about 30 miles off shore but yet we have zero??

Thanks boat gods!!!
:dance::dance::dance:

EDIT:

7:30 P.M. Still zero wind..???

Weathermen

We all complain when they get the forcast wrong. Well with Kyle and Hanna, I am so glad they were wrong:dance:. We were in the middle of our 2 week cruise when Hanna came to visit. We were tucked into Bucks harbor which is an excellent spot for riding out a storm. 360 degrees of protection with high shores. Lots of rain and barely a wisp of wind.

Re: Weathermen

I keep my H28 on a mooring in Boothbay Maine. I was sweating it out last weekend waiting to see where hurricane Kyle would go. Ended up being OK since he turned to the East as it approached the coast of Maine. Close call, but no damage. : )

Glad Everyone and Everything Made It

There has been enough upheavel and devestation and damage and destruction over the last couple years with the hurricane and tropical systems. About time someone got a break. We all need to give thanks to the boat gods for looking out for you all.
