Winches
Brad, Check out any marine consignment stores in your area. The closest one in my area is in Newport RI, and I've bought a lot of stuff cheap there. If you can find something pretty close to a Barlow winch, you really wouldn't need the handle. I hardly ever use my winch handle. It just sits in the cabin most of the time. The money that some of these large boat supply outlets are asking for their sailboat hardware, is ridicules. The smartest thing that I ever did for snubbing my Gennie sheets off, was to buy two clam cleats and place them behind the winches. They work just as well as self tailing winches, and a lot better than those rubber things that they sell for that purpose. Joe
