I was looking through the results and noticed Hunters did decently in the cruising classes. A Vision 32 owned by Rodger Beard placed fourth out of a class field of 36. Nice job to everyone! Rick D.

Almost looked like a Rendezvous

I was amazed at the shear number of Hunter's that participated. Good job everyone. Markdb

Try This Link, Alan

It has the preliminary results, listing all finishers and the trophied boats. You sorta have to compare the two to see what boat is what. They have not posted a full fleet report with both actual and corrected. RD

Second Place Ensenada

We placed second in the Ensenada Cruising Gen B class. We sailed it in a Hunter 36 called Piacere. The last two years in the same class we raced a Hunter Vision 32, the same boat Roger Beard sails sans the nice sails, and took a fouth and sixth. It was definitely a nice upgrade to the 36 though you can't beat the Vision for comfort. It's just nice to have a shroud to hang on to when you're throwing a spinnaker in the middle of the night. An extra few feet of water lines not bad either. Congratulations Roger Beard. Who said those Hunters can't race.

They Can Race, Huh, Steve?

I took a shotgun first and tropied on adjusted time on the same V32 Rodger sailed in the MDR to SD race five years ago. That was before he optimized it, so it was luck as to the skipper, but the boat was fast. There was certainly good participation by Hunters this year and very good placings. I note one also took first on PHRF, F (I think). Good to see them out on the water mixing it up with the Cats and Bennies. I recorded 27 knots at my slip in MDR the afternoon of the race, how much wind did you have? Rick D.

Wind Speed

I think you had higher wind than we did. We were looking at apparent wind on the wind machine but I think the true wind was 20-22 knots. It died to nothing about 10:00pm. The next day was fairly light dying off again. Some boats were stuck within sight of the finish line for hours and unable to move and getting drenched everytime their sails flapped in the fog. Fortunately we made it in while there was still wind. I can't believe you were on Beard's boat. He has sort of been our nemesis over the last four years since we were racing the same boat in the same class. This year there was a thirty six like ours to compare our selves to.
