A little advice please . i'm looking to buy my first sail boat . need enough room for two adults and two kids 11 and 13 . there is a 26' hunter 1989 for sale at a local marina. looks to be a sharp looking boat . it has been for sale for a while not sure if it will survey well? i need a boat for protected salt water sailing, is this boat stable enough with it's lower displacement ?

Bryan, for a family of four I would go with the...

H28. We had a 1989 model and it was a great boat. Roomy, nice layout and sails nicely. We spent most of our cruising time on it in the San Juan Islands and we always felt safe. Terry

Sure

The h26 should be just fine for protected salt water sailing. That's what I do with mine. It's got remarkable room for a 26 footer. Of course it's still not a large boat, so you all better be comfortable with eachother. These water ballasted Hunters are a little tender, but not to the point of being scary or dangerous. May I suggest posting on the Smaller Boats forum where the h26/260 owners hang out. Ron Mehringer h26 Hydro-Therapy
