I am so happy. For the past four years my wife has not taken out our c22 by herself or with friends as she did not feel confident trying to start our 9.9 merc if becalmed. On many past occasion she has watched my mighty pulls on the starter rope and sweat on my brow. Our boat's auxillary is now a minn kota 55lb thrust electric trolling motor. Not only have we eliminated the need for a gas tank and heavy weight hanging off the back of the boat but now with the simply turn of a handle we can motor home when the wind dies. I was concerned if it would have enough power since we launch in the Columbia River and have to go upsteam against the current to enter our lake. We weren't exactly planing but we're achieving 3 to 4 knots even against a 2 to 3 knot current. The boat is better trimmed with less weight aft - the motor simply bolted to my existing motor bracket and I installed a batttery box in the fuel campartment to which I keep the motor and solar charger attached. It has exceeded all expectations!I will keep the gas merc for when we go to the coast as our tidal passes do require a bit more horse power - Now if only they would have a slightly more powerfull model for salt water!
