golf cart batteries

I'm changing out my 4d batteries and replacing with 4 golf cart batteries. I'm thinking of installing them in the port cockpit locker. Is there any issues I should be aware of before I make the boxes that will hold the batteries? I have a B361 (2003).

You may want to consider balance of the boat. Where are the batt's installed now vs. in the cockpit. If you end up with them more outboard they will throw off the balance.

Trojan makes a 12v battery (T1275) that is not as tall as the 6v batteries and will fit in a 4D box.
